We headed down to Naha (the Capital of Okinawa) on Sunday for the annual Tug-Of-War. With us went our friend Nicole and her two boys Cooper and Caden.
The Naha Tug of War has been in the Guiness Book of World Records for years as the largest tug-of-war in the world. Not something you knew about huh? Welcome to Okinawa!

Here is a photo of Cooper - I thought it was a good one and worth passing on.
The giant rope being brought in. They actually close the main highway to have enough roomfor the event. This is just a part of it. It is LONG and there are a huge number of feeder ropes off the ends to that everyone can participate.

I liked the below shot that Brad took. A view of the LOADS of people that come down to see this spectacle.
Another groovy shot by Brad - this huge ball was full of balloons and paper confetti, they opened it and it blew all over. It entertained Alessandra (and Cooper and Caden) tremendously (well really, Cooper and Caden entertained Alessandra and the confetti and balloons were a part of the process).
A shot of Brad and Olivia. They are the only ones of us who actually pulled the rope. The rest of us retreated to the background (Alessandra we found, is not that keen on crowds). The two of them stayed in and Brad said once Olivia got down to help pull, our side won! Tough girl!
At the end of the "WAR" everyone jumps up ontop of the rope and then it is cut into pieces. It is said that if you get a piece of the rope then you will have luck for the following year. Thankfully Brad (who always has cutting tools on his person) took care of our luck for the next year and we all got a little piece to take home

Alessandra doesn't like crowds, sounds like Grandfather. It does look like fun. I'm glad Olivia got involved.
My video didn't work either but I can hear Olivia saying "that's okay."
Our Columbus Day was a tug of war with a tarp covering our trailer. The tarp won. We enjoyed the fall foliage in Catskill State Park.
And by the way, you guys are the cutest.
